1. Whitby didn't inspire Bram Stoker to write Dracula. It was new Slains Castle in Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire.
   Whitby was the location that Dracula landed from Transylvania.

3. interesting history, but surprised by people not bathing. i went to look at the temperatures today and in the 1800s, and then compared it with back home in Chile where it's notoriously cold, and we bathe a lot, and they're not that different! like 2 maybe 3 degree differences and we even bathe in the glacial lakes which are 2-3 degree colder than the ocean, i'm talking down south where there is a very similar climate to the UK, and I gotta say, pretty silly, cowardly really to have so much coastline and not use it.
